Software Engineer @ PSEG

I build software

every day—
and art that lasts.

I co-own the PSEG mobile app end to end — React Native up front, AWS & Azure serverless behind it. Off the clock, I carve, paint, and ship my own apps.

@ PSEG
// about

Engineer first,
maker always.

Hey there, I'm Alen! I'm a software engineer in the NYC metro area. I co-own the PSEG Mobile App end to end — React Native on the front, AWS serverless on the back. When the senior engineers on my team moved on and team responsibilities shifted, I took on expanded ownership across releases, roadmap planning, stakeholder coordination, and ongoing React Native/AWS development.

I studied Information Technology at NJIT and I'm happiest building end to end — from a serverless pipeline that chews through 41M records, to a hand-illustrated game screen, to a relief carved out of a single board.

PSEG Mobile App

View on the App Store

The iOS & Android app millions of customers use to pay bills, track outages, view usage, and manage service. I co-own it end to end — customer-facing features, RESTful APIs on AWS Lambda & API Gateway, CloudWatch dashboards, etc. — and built its production loading animation in Figma + Lottie.

myTown — Outage Reporting

mytown.pseg.com

A public outage-tracking site customers rely on during storms. When the third-party vendor announced end-of-support for it — a feature mandated by NJ's Board of Public Utilities — we had to rebuild it in-house, fast. I architected the serverless Azure backend — function apps, storage, and pipelines processing 41M+ records — and built the frontend that turns it into clear, county-level answers people can use mid-outage.

// the facelift

The legacy report was dense and hard to scan. I gave it a much-needed facelift — same data, far clearer.

The serverless pipeline
at the heart of the site.

No human ever touches the data. Every 15 minutes fresh files land, get sorted into 256 buckets, and get matched into a per-town answer — the serverless backend that powers mytown.pseg.com ↗. Here's how I built it — and exactly how one record makes the trip.

Onward & Up

Live on the App Store

Published and live on the App Store. A puzzle game I designed, illustrated, and shipped solo. Every screen is hand-drawn — the whole climb from canyon floor to starfield is mine, end to end. The same eye I bring to carving and painting, shipped as a product.

ReadMate

My senior capstone at NJIT. As product owner, I led a team of 3 developers in an Agile workflow — weekly scrum and sprints — to ship a published Chrome extension that makes reading accessible for people with Dyslexia, ADHD, and Dyscalculia through text-to-speech and synchronized highlighting.

Made by hand.

When I'm not shipping code I'm carving relief panels, turning sculpture, and painting. The same attention to detail and composition I bring to interfaces — just in wood and pigment instead of pixels.
